An hour on a paddleboard is governed by the return leg. Wind and small chop can make the journey back to Sidari slower than the outward paddle, so Canal d’Amour should be treated as a possible direction, not a target that must be reached. Ask staff for the day’s boundary and the point at which to turn around.

Start on your knees

After the safety briefing, begin in a stable kneeling position, check paddle length and learn how the leash and life vest are used. Stand only in clear water with space to fall. A wide stance and eyes forward help more than staring at the board. Previous experience is not required, but the product’s “easy to learn” language is not a guarantee that everyone will remain upright.

Kneeling is a valid control position for learning, headwind or a cautious return.

Caves require more restraint than confidence

The live product mentions exploring the Canal d’Amour caves. Do not enter a confined opening when swell, traffic or changing light makes the exit uncertain. Keep clear of cliff fall zones and swimmers, and follow any prohibition given in the briefing. A board is not protection from rock.

Pregnant travellers are excluded. Other participants should be able to climb back onto the board after a fall and paddle from a seated or kneeling position if tired. Keep possessions minimal and waterproof; a phone attached loosely to the board can become both litter and a distraction.

Ask which leash type is supplied and how to remove it if it snags. In a fall, protect the head with the arms, surface away from the board if possible and remount from the side rather than hauling on the tail. The life vest is included but does not replace swimming judgement or staff instructions.

The useful route depends on balance, pace and the conditions encountered after leaving shore.

Keep half the clock for returning

Turn sooner when the outward direction feels unusually easy: that can indicate a following wind that will oppose the trip back. The rental includes a life vest and briefing, not a guide travelling beside the private group. Confirm the recovery procedure if someone cannot paddle home.

Report damage or lost equipment immediately. Do not drag the fin across rock or leave a loose board where a wave can strike another beach user.

Compare the pace with the Sidari jet-ski rental, which uses a powered restricted zone. The beaches guide helps plan shore time after equipment is returned.
