About this tour

Saranda: Corfu Town and Palaiokastritsa Day Trip with Cruise

If you love the idea of drifting across the Ionian, soaking up the cosmopolitan rhythm of Corfu Town, and cooling off in the blue waters near Palaiokastritsa—all in a single day—this day trip from Saranda wraps it all together. With sea breezes and pine-scented hills as your travel companions, the Saranda: Corfu Town and Palaiokastritsa Day Trip with Cruise is a beautifully paced taste of Corfu, Greece for those curious about its layers of history, beach life, and vibrant squares.

Journey Across the Ionian

Your adventure begins in the morning light, departing Saranda for Corfu by boat—a journey that’s always a treat as you watch the Albanian and Corfiot coastlines come in and out of view. The salty air and gentle breeze set the tone for a Mediterranean day out, with the islands of western Greece giving way to Corfu’s iconic silhouette.

Exploring the Old Town

Arriving in Corfu Town, you’re welcomed into a lively mix of Venetian walls, pastel townhouses, and tree-lined promenades. Your included guide or tour leader is ready at the port, keeping things relaxed and helping you find your way to Corfu’s gracious old town. You’ll stroll through the city’s largest square, Spianada, where locals linger over coffee under the plane trees in the famous Liston arcade. Historic coffee shops, shaded piazzas, and museum facades all invite you to slow down and take in the city’s pace.

Cultural Landmarks

  • The Famous Liston: A classic people-watching spot, lined with stone arcades, friendly cafés, and easy-going restaurants. Perfect for a morning espresso or gelato as the square comes alive.
  • The Royal Palace: Home to the Museum of Asian Art, this neoclassical building is an easy stroll from the main square and a reminder of Corfu’s days as a crossroads for cultures.

Scenic North Coast – Palaiokastritsa

Trading city buzz for nature’s quiet, you’ll head out of town by air-conditioned coach to reach the legendary scenery of Palaiokastritsa. This village is famed across Corfu for its green headlands, pebble beaches, and inviting clear waters—just the place for cooling dips or exploring the coastline from the sea.

The Monastery Above the Bay

Up on the hill, the whitewashed Monastery of the Virgin Mary looks across olive groves and blue bays. There’s time here to visit the small museum (if open), light a candle, or just linger in the shade where cypress and pine keep things cool. Church bells echo across the valley, and the view is one you won’t forget.

Beach Time & Local Boat Trips

Back at the shore, Palaiokastritsa’s beach cafés and rental boats tempt you towards the water. Boat trips can whisk you to nearby sea caves, secluded coves, and swimming spots beloved by locals. Bring your swimwear and towel—there’s nothing quite like a late afternoon swim with Corfu’s green hills above you.

“Liked it, guides were very kind and respectful. Big Up to Lori, Meri and Trina. Trina waited us at the port and guided to the starting point. Lori guided us through our ride with the bus after we landed and spoke about history of Corfu, gave info what to do and what not, very kind. Meri guided us through Corfu and gave us info about the City of Corfu. Beach was beautiful on Palaiokastritsa, and Corfu was so lovely. The guides themselfs don't accompany you through the whole hours, they just give quick info which are valuable and then basically you are on your own. IMPORTANT: Check your Email a day before, as the starting time might change, ours was supposed to start departing from 7:00 AM and it was pushed to 9:00 AM. When booking, enter your whastapp number so that they can email you your tickets. You can contact the company via WhatsApp number on the meeting point from google. And when you receive your tickets, you get details. It was enjoyable. otherwise, it was 3nhoy”

“This is a great opportunity to see Corfu if you are staying in South Albania. The guides on both sides were helpful and informative. Our tour guide in Corfu was Katarina who was very knowledgeable and friendly. We were able to find out a lot about the area as well as having plenty of free time to enjoy for ourselves. It is a beautiful island and a fantastic day and showed me I definitely want to go back again for more!”
