Overview & vibe – who Sidari suits
Sidari sits on the north coast, about 40 km (50-60 minutes) from Corfu Airport. It is livelier than Acharavi or Roda but milder than Kavos – a sweet spot for families with older children, groups of friends, and couples who want beach days plus evening buzz.
Sidari works well for: – Families who want sandy, shallow, warm water (north coast seas heat up faster than the west). – First-time Corfu visitors who want facilities, shops and restaurants on the doorstep. – Travellers using Sidari as a hub for Cape Drastis, Peroulades sunsets and boat trips.
Less ideal for: – Anyone seeking total peace – July-August evenings are busy. – Purist culture trips – Corfu Town is an hour away (still doable as a day trip).

Canal d'Amour – Corfu's famous sandstone coves
The Canal d'Amour ("Channel of Love") is a maze of golden sandstone cliffs, arches and swimmable coves carved by wind and sea. Local legend says couples who swim through the narrow channel will stay together – whether or not you believe it, the spot is photogenic and unique on the island.
We keep the full legend, swimming safety notes and parking map on our dedicated Sidari & Canal d'Amour guide – read that before you visit. Arrive before 10:00 in summer for space and photos; midday is packed.
Sidari's beaches
Beyond the canal, Sidari has three main sandy bays with Blue Flag status on the principal beach: – Shallow, gently shelving water – excellent for children. – Sunbeds and watersports on the main strip. – Beachfront tavernas for long lunches.
The water here is typically warmer and calmer than Corfu's exposed west coast – see best beaches in Corfu for how Sidari compares to Paleokastritsa and Glyfada.
Things to do in & around Sidari
Within easy reach: – Cape Drastis & Loggas (Sunset) Beach – dramatic white cliffs at the island's northwest tip; details in our hidden gems guide. – Peroulades village – clifftop sunset bars above a thin sand strip. – Old Perithia – heritage mountain village with tavernas under Mount Pantokrator (Corfu villages). – Acharavi & Roda – long sandy beaches 15 minutes east.
On the strip: mini-golf, bars, shops, boat ticket kiosks and casual nightlife – more in our Corfu nightlife overview.

What is Sidari famous for?
Sidari is best known for the Canal d'Amour sandstone coves, its sandy Blue Flag beaches, and a lively resort strip with restaurants, bars and boat trips to the Diapontia Islands.
Is the Canal d'Amour in Sidari safe to swim?
Yes, with care – depths vary between coves and rocks can be slippery. Supervise children, check water depth before jumping, and read the safety section in our Canal d'Amour guide.
Is Sidari better than Kavos?
Different holidays. Sidari is family-friendlier with sandy beaches and moderate nightlife. Kavos is the island's party capital – louder, younger, and not ideal for young children.
How far is Sidari from Corfu Airport?
About 40 km – typically 50-65 minutes by car or taxi, or 50-60 minutes on green bus A2 from Corfu Town (connect from the airport on blue bus line 15).
Is Sidari good for families?
Yes – shallow warm water, sandy beaches, mini-golf and boat trips make it one of the better north-coast family bases. See also Corfu with kids.
Do I need a car in Sidari?
Not strictly – buses reach Corfu Town and the canal is walkable – but a hire car (or at least a few days' rental) unlocks Cape Drastis, Peroulades and mountain villages. Our car rental guide explains costs and insurance.
What are the best beaches in Sidari?
The main Sidari bay (three linked sandy coves) is the resort beach. Nearby highlights include Canal d'Amour pools and, with transport, Almyros east of Acharavi and Loggas west at Peroulades.
Can you walk from Sidari to the Canal d'Amour?
Yes – it is at the west end of the resort, roughly 10-15 minutes on foot from the main strip, or a short drive with parking closer (fills by midday in summer).
