Koulouris Beach Hotel: Relaxed Seaside Living in Kavos, Corfu

If you’re seeking that sun-drenched, gently buzzing stretch of Corfu where the line between sea and sky becomes gloriously blurred, Kavos is the spot—and Koulouris Beach Hotel puts you right where the Ionian blue sets the tone for easy, holiday days.

Setting the Scene: Coastal Calm Meets Breezy Kavos

Staying at this rental-style accommodation, you wake to the salty tang of the sea on the morning wind and, if you’re anything like most guests, quickly develop the habit of slipping out to the shoreline before breakfast. The hotel sits directly along the waterfront, so it’s just a few steps through quiet gardens and past gently swaying olive trees to warm sand and gentle waves. There’s a quiet hum to Kavos in summer; cicadas keep time, and the rhythm of life slows down in the hush before midday heat sets in.

Beach Days: Sand Between Your Toes

Koulouris Beach Hotel brings the beach to your doorstep. Here, you can lounge under a parasol or just stroll down the sand while the water laps around your ankles. Start your day with a swim, or settle into the relaxed pace with a book and the shade of a pine. Nearby beach cafés tempt with an iced coffee, just a short walk down the shoreline.

Local Dining and Village Life

Kavos isn’t just about the sea; there’s a lively village heart nearby. You’ll find tavernas turning out Corfiot favourites—think fresh-caught fish, generous village salads, and platters of local olives. In the cooler hours, the hum of conversation spills into the lane, joined every so often by the distant sound of church bells drifting over from the square.

Rooms with a Sense of Place

Koulouris Beach Hotel fits naturally into its Corfiot surrounds. Rooms are simply furnished and practical, designed to make time outdoors feel like a luxury. Whether you wake to the sound of waves or a view of distant mountain ridges, there’s always a reminder you’re deep in island territory.

“Nel complesso siamo stati abbastanza bene. La struttura è carina, il personale molto gentile e amichevole, le stanze comode e spaziose. Unica grande pecca…la stanza non è stata mai pulita. Sono stati cambiati esclusivamente gli asciugamani due volte, senza aver mai pulito il bagno, né dato una spazzata a terra… Serve comunque la macchina per spostarsi. Buona struttura, carina, ma potrebbe sicuramente migliorare.”

“⭐ 1 STAR – Extremely disappointing experience I genuinely cannot recommend Koulouris Beach Hotel after our two-week stay. The biggest issue for me was the way myself and my 7-year-old son were treated around the pool. On our second day, I assisted a young child who had become submerged in the water. Following this incident, there appeared to be changes or discussions around the pool rules regarding children using the larger pool. The problem was that these rules were never clearly communicated to us. My son can swim, was using a rubber ring and was being directly supervised by me. I was sitting just a few feet away from him when a member of staff told me to remove him from the pool. When I calmly asked for clarification, another member of staff approached me in what I felt was an unnecessarily loud and aggressive manner and told me that if I did not follow the rules, we could be removed from the hotel. I remained calm throughout the interaction and simply wanted clarification about what the rules actually were. Unfortunately, the experience left both myself and my son feeling uncomfortable using the pool for the remainder of our holiday. We deliberately avoided the pool area for the rest of our two-week stay because we did not want any further confrontation. There were other issues too, including the way staff dealt with us regarding parking, a leak outside our room which remained throughout our stay, and a general lack of communication. Despite assisting the young child during the pool incident, nobody from the hotel subsequently approached us to acknowledge what had happened. I did eventually receive an apology regarding the pool incident, which I accepted, but unfortunately the experience had already significantly affected our holiday. There are also additional charges associated with the hotel, including air conditioning, which I feel should be made absolutely clear to guests before or at the time of booking/check-in. The most disappointing part is that this holiday cost us close to £4,000, and instead of leaving with good memories, both myself and my son were simply counting down the days until we could leave. This is honestly the worst hotel experience I have ever had. I would not return and, based on our experience, I cannot recommend this hotel.”
