Local Flavour: Starting Out in Ag. Georgios

Ag. Georgios is a classic Corfu mix: a wide sandy beach rimmed by gentle hills, with pine and cypress above and seaside tavernas on the waterfront. From here, riding out on a rented bike makes even the humid air feel fresh. As you cruise along the coast, the scent of wild sage and salt water mingles, giving way to the earthy aroma of hillside olive groves.

Practical Transportation for Real Exploration

Corfu’s heart lies off the main tourist tracks, and two wheels are the ideal way to slip down narrow lanes, pause at a village bakery, or discover a small, family-run taverna where the only sound is the chatter of locals and the distant clang of church bells.

  • Bikes make cycling quiet backroads easy, past fields bright with wildflowers and fig trees heavy with fruit.
  • If you’re planning beach-hopping, a scooter lets you fit your towel, beach hat, and picnic with ease.

“Lovely staff, good prices and service. Would 100% recommend renting scooters here.”

“We rented a scooter for a day, and it was great that one was available on short notice; the booking process itself was smooth and uncomplicated. What is completely unacceptable, however, is that the scooter was handed over with only enough fuel for 10 km. The agent mentioned this briefly and pointed us toward local gas stations, but within that radius, there were only two. One of them was closed because it was Sunday, and the fuel light quickly turned orange—leaving us stressed and unsure if we would even make it to the second station. It was anything but a relaxing start to our day. To be independent for the rest of our route, we filled the tank completely. Shortly after, when parking the scooter, one of the handlebar grips simply slid right off in my hand. Feeling unsafe riding long distances with a loose grip, we hardly drove for the rest of the day and ended up returning the scooter nearly full, despite having picked it up completely empty. Given the issues, we explained the unpleasant experience upon returning the vehicle and expected some goodwill in the form of a partial refund, but received no response at all. Disappointing.”

“Zaraz obok hotelu Sand Gold znajduję się wypożyczalnia skuterów którą prowadzą ludzie znający się na tym. Mają nowoczesne markowe sprzęty i dwie wypożyczalnie. My szybko i sprawnie wynajęliśmy hondę SV 150 na 6 dni za 110E. Skuter miał duży kufer i bez problemów pakowaliśmy się na wycieczki po wyspie. Zrobiliśmy 600 km i myślę że ta honda to świetny wybór na kiepskiej jakości drogi, dobrze tłumił dziury i spalał 2 litry na 100 km nie zamulając pod górki. Wydaję mi się że nic więcej nie trzeba.”
